Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructures - Resilience and trust in the Health and Energy sectors

Join Cyberwatching.eu on its Concertation meeting's webinar series on "Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructures - Resilience and trust in the Health and Energy sectors", taking place on 24 June at 9:15 CEST.

In this two part webinar we will zoom in on how Europe is addressing the need to effectively protect the Energy and Healthcare infrastructures.

The expansion of the threat surface due to global connectivity and the rise of emerging technologies such as IoT and AI is having a significant impact on critical infrastructures and services.

Disruption of these ICT capabilities may have disastrous consequences both at national and international level.

The first part, we will be addressing the Energy sector and look at how, in addition to the typical threats that plague other industries, it presents certain particularities that require particular attention. Both geographic distance and organizational complexity make the industry vulnerable to cyberattacks, coupling with unique interdependencies between virtual systems and physical infrastructure.

5 EC funded projects will present useful insights and tangible solutions in protecting the electrical power, energy systems and smart grids against cyber-attacks and how to preserve the privacy of the data.

A panel discussion will address the following topics:

  • How to ensure cross border cooperation to tackle potential cascading effects?
  • How to securely combine legacy systems with new technologies such as smart meters, or connected appliances and devices (IoT) without being exposed to cyber threats?
  • How to address specific real-time requirements challenges of energy infrastructure components?
  • In the second part, we will focus on how digital technology is transforming Healthcare.
  • Hospitals, Medical Device manufacturers, ICT systems providers and Digital service providers need to act now to demonstrate their products and service's cyber resilience and privacy capabilities,
  • not simply to address the EU regulatory measures (GDPR, MDR, EU Directive 2016/1148) but also to establish patients and medical staff's trust and confidence.
  • 5 EC funded project will present the main challenges facing the medical sector in ensuring secure integration of services that comply to EU regulations.

A panel discussion will address the following topics:

  • How can healthcare actors ensure to adopt a “security and privacy-by-design” approach?
  • How can we ensure that, when a new medical device is deployed and integrated into a hospital context, is privacy and cybersecurity compliant?
  • How can we mitigate the risks, now or in view of the next COVID-similar crisis?
